Ask, Seek, Knock
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
(Matthew 7:7, NIV)
In the 1920s, Fred R. Barnard coined the phrase, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” For many people, a picture, vision, or dream conveys a feeling or thought more effectively than a verbal or written description.
The Bible has many examples of God using VISIONS to help people discern his will. Visions are powerful tools to deepen the faith in our hearts.
Abraham received a specific picture from God about his future. He took him outside and said, “Now look to the heavens and count the stars. So shall your offspring be.”
Likewise, God used a vision in Acts 9:10-17 to convince Ananias, a disciple from Damascus, to visit Paul, a persecutor of Christians. Ananias was obedient to God, and Paul not only regained his sight but found the truth about those he sought to kill. Paul became one of God’s most influential missionaries.
Do you believe the Lord carries a bright vision for your life? I do, and I don’t want to miss it. It’s important to me to know what DIRECTION God wants me to go. I have been diligently seeking answers in his Word and praying to find my new path. Recently a vision of a garden with workers cultivating seeds of hope came to me. I don’t think I have the whole picture yet, so I will continue to wait, look, and listen.
I also enrolled in a course called A Woman’s Call under Dr. Evelyn Johnson-Taylor to help me clarify God’s plan for my life. In 2 Corinthians 13: 1, the Bible says God puts people together to make a matter clear with two or three witnesses.
Vision is one key to hearing GOD’S VOICE. With His promise in Matthew 7:7, I trust I will see his good plans for my future.
When we catch sight of what God has planned for us, great things happen right before our eyes.
