Catch a Vision

Ask, Seek, Knock

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

(Matthew 7:7, NIV)

In the 1920s, Fred R. Barnard coined the phrase, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” For many people, a picture, vision, or dream conveys a feeling or thought more effectively than a verbal or written description.

The Bible has many examples of God using VISIONS to help people discern his will. Visions are powerful tools to deepen the faith in our hearts.

Abraham received a specific picture from God about his future. He took him outside and said, “Now look to the heavens and count the stars. So shall your offspring be.”

Likewise, God used a vision in Acts 9:10-17 to convince Ananias, a disciple from Damascus, to visit Paul, a persecutor of Christians. Ananias was obedient to God, and Paul not only regained his sight but found the truth about those he sought to kill. Paul became one of God’s most influential missionaries.

Do you believe the Lord carries a bright vision for your life? I do, and I don’t want to miss it. It’s important to me to know what DIRECTION God wants me to go. I have been diligently seeking answers in his Word and praying to find my new path. Recently a vision of a garden with workers cultivating seeds of hope came to me. I don’t think I have the whole picture yet, so I will continue to wait, look, and listen.

I also enrolled in a course called A Woman’s Call under Dr. Evelyn Johnson-Taylor to help me clarify God’s plan for my life. In 2 Corinthians 13: 1, the Bible says God puts people together to make a matter clear with two or three witnesses.

Vision is one key to hearing GOD’S VOICE. With His promise in Matthew 7:7, I trust I will see his good plans for my future.

When we catch sight of what God has planned for us, great things happen right before our eyes.

Thought for the Day: When have you asked God, “What do you want me to do?”

Please share a vision the Lord has given you in the comments below.

  3. God’s plans are always for our good — whether we see them that way or not. His perspective is so much wiser, greater, and all-encompassing! After all, He is the Lord God Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth!! <3

Catching God’s vision for our lives makes all the smaller decisions that come after much easier. We can then seek His guidance for the step-by-step decisions. Thanks, Linda, for the reminder.

Thanks, Jean, for stopping by. I need God for everything, big or small.

Sometimes we get a vision that we can see and other times we hear a voice “this is the way, walk ye in it”. However we receive instructions, it is important to obey. That sometimes is the challenge because we might not understand it; and it is the fraility of human reasoning which causes disobedience. Good article, Linda. Praying about your vision so it will become exceeding clear.

An intimate relationship with Christ is the first step to know God’s will for our lives. Then we have a choice of how we will respond. Thank you for your prayers and encouragement.

  6. Thank you for sharing this inspiring peace Linda!

As you know, a vision from God about working as a reporter burned inside of my heart daily for over a decade. Because I know to be HIS vision, I cultivated it with small actions of faith by writing to myself daily. In continues prayer, I was seeking His direction and my faith in Him spoke louder then my insecurities and financial limitations. The odds were against me and in front of me as COVID-19 swiped nations, bringing my recent work project to a halt. BUT GOD….In July 9th of 2020, The Lighthouse News first quarterly issue was published, and 750 copies are now on route by direct mail and in local distribution spots .God provided the writers, editors, layout artist and even the money to pay for the printing cost. Now we are working on the September issue.

With all the uncertainties and fear surrounding the BLM movement, the upcoming elections, COVID-19 and predictions of a financial downfall, the truth to me is that by the Grace of God, I overcame the paralyzing insecurities and doubts that tormented my spirit with lies about me. This IS the true vision God as a loving father wanted me to overcome. The Bible says that we should prosper as our soul prospers, so now, my prayers to God are that I continue to obey His voice knowing that HE who have started this work in me is faithful to finish.

    God Bless you dearest friend!

Eglaide, God is using you and The Lighthouse News in incredible ways. Conflicting messages in today’s culture are pulling us away from Godly truth. Keep writing, keep soaring, the world needs to know about Jesus.

  7. DIANE CLARK says:

Considering Colossians 3:2 NIV which says: “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things,” I live my life focused on living for Christ. Trusting Him for wisdom and guidance in my daily decisions and priorities gives me great peace. It’s when I wander off on my own agenda that I feel troubled; then through seeking Him in pray, I learn where I made a fork in the road that wasn’t healthy for me or my marriage. I can’t seem to recall a “vision” yet I know that as scriptures say, “He leadeth me.”

    1. Linda Ray Center says:

Diane, you have a great ability to discern God’s direction in your everyday life. There is no magic formula to hear from Him. You got it, dear friend.
